Make sure the LINE port on the All-In-One is connected to a telephone wall socket, or otherwise connected correctly. In most countries the correct connecting cable to use is a RJ11 6P2C cable.
Verify that the telephone wall socket works by connecting a phone to it. If the line has static, turn off the V.34 and ECM (Error Correction Mode) settings. These settings are on by default. See the 'Selecting send/receive settings' section of your All-In-One's Fax Guide/Basic Operation Guide for information.
If the All-In-One is connected to a DSL/ADSL (xDSL) phone line, you must have a DSL filter connected to the phone jack. Contact your DSL provider for the necessary filter, if they have not already provided one.
If you answer the phone and hear a fax tone and the call disconnects when you hang up, make sure there is a phone or answering machine connected to the EXT. port on the All-In-One.
Make sure that your recipient's fax machine is turned on and working.
Make sure paper is loaded correctly.
If you're using DRD (Distinctive Ring), try setting DRD to OFF or ALL. If the fax answers when turning off DRD, the ring pattern may be causing the problem. Contact your phone company.
If a telephone with an answering machine is connected to the All-In-One, set the number of rings on the All-In-One to more than the answering machine and turn Auto Answer mode on (on the All-In-One) to automatically receive faxes. You can select the answer mode by pressing the Auto Answer/Space button. On the DX7000F and DX9400F models, make sure a 'Y' is displayed on the first screen.
If you see Receiving on the display but nothing prints, the fax data may be too large. Tell the sender to resend the fax in smaller sections.
Turn call waiting off. Call waiting may disrupt an incoming or outgoing fax.
If the All-In-One does not receive a fax, verify that it's not connected to a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) system. The ring signal on a PBX system can cause a problem. Contact your PBX administrator for support.
Because fax machines are designed to work over standard analogue telephone lines, Epson does not guarantee that fax transmission will work over VoIP phone lines.
If you are using a Telephone Answering Machine (TAM) with the All-In-One, or connect an DSL/xDSL connection (e.g. ADSL Internet) to the telephone line wall socket, please check the connections are set correctly:
If using DSL/xDSL (Internet), the order that items are connected should be: The telephone line (wall socket) has connected to it a > DSL (filter)then connect cable to > Fax (LINE port on All-In-One). If you are also using a TAM, connect the cable to the EXT. port on All-In-One.
If using a TAM, the order that items are connected should be: Cable fromtelephone line (wall socket) is connected to > Fax (LINE port on All-In-One) > then connect cable toTAM (EXT. port on All-In-One).
